There are certainly some good points about soft covers over hard tonneau covers. I am not here to knock them. I am responsible for a good many sales of soft tonneau covers on my other site at http://truckbedtonneau.com. I am just trying to help you make a decision which cover is best for you. The soft covers, and there are very many of them out there are good if you are hauling larger or should I say taller loads. You are capable of rolling the cover up giving you full access to your truck bed. Some of them have the bows integrated into them so the bows roll up with the tarp. Others may require rolling up the tarp, then removing the bows out of the way. I guess the best thing about this is that you are not stuck for a place to put your tonneau if you unexpectedly have to haul a taller load. There isn't much security with the soft covers as you can either unsnap them, unvelcro them or just peel the special fitted sealing system apart to get at the cargo area. If you use your cargo area often you may find it a hassle just having to unsnap, pull apart the velcro fastening or peel apart the special sealing system, and then doing it all back up again. There are some good soft covers out there for the wet weather but many of them have some leakage problems. A little about the hard tonneau covers now. Very easy access to the truck bed as all you have to do is lift the cover which is easily done with the help of dual shocks on them. This is extremely usefull if you are in and out of your cargo area often. Water is not usually a problem with hard lids. Security is much better with hard covers as they usually have locking systems built into them. A smooth fit is also comes with the hard lids. They do have a flaw that you are kind of stuck for a place to put your tonneau if you wish to remove it to haul an unexpected taller load. The fiberglass hard covers are usually quite heavy to remove from your truck. This is where the Undercover tonneau has the advantage. It is very lightweight because of its ABS contruction. It comes off and on in seconds with the quick release hardware. If a hard cover is more suitable for you and your truck I would take a serious look at the Under Cover Tonneau. I hope this bit of information has helped you with your decision which cover is best for you and your life style.
